Zach Shepard, the founder of the Braddock Investment Group oversees the strategic vision for the company, as well as maintaining the day to day operations. He started his real estate career in the middle of the Great Recession. From lessons he learned during that time believes that calculated risk-taking in inefficient markets is the key to being successful in real estate and building long term wealth.
The product of a hard-working family from Missouri (Zach’s mom is an architect, and his father was an attorney), Zach found his passion for real estate soon after moving to Chicago. A year after graduating from the University of Missouri with a Political Science degree, Zach read Rich Dad Poor Dad and instantly knew that the real estate investment arena was where he wanted to be. After a brief stint at First Capital Mortgage, and as the Great Recession hit, Zach turned his focus towards negotiating and buying short sale properties by founding Windy City Short Sales, a real estate short sale negotiation company. He also became a licensed real estate agent. Since that time in 2008, he’s gone on to buy, sell, rehab and flip hundreds of properties in the Chicagoland area, as well as raise several million dollars from individual investors for his current portfolio. The real estate market has changed considerably since he started, but Zach is still in the arena every day looking at deals.
He frequently shares his knowledge with other investors and has been a speaker or panel member at many REI events in the Chicagoland area over the years. Originally from Springfield, MO, Zach lives in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago with his dog, Bolt!
